You can add a calendar event from your home screen with the add-event button in the Super Agenda toolbar. One tap on the button opens the new-event screen of your calendar app, so you do not need to find the app first.
The toolbar has two more buttons: refresh and settings. This guide shows all three, and what each one does.
What the toolbar buttons do
Add event — What it does: Opens the new-event screen of your calendar app.
Refresh — What it does: Reloads the events in the widget.
Settings — What it does: Opens the Super Agenda settings.
A tap on an event in the list opens that event in your calendar app. So you can check the details or change an event in one tap.
Super Agenda is an agenda widget, not a calendar app. It shows the events of the calendars on your phone. It does not have its own calendar sync, so your events live in your calendar accounts, such as Google Calendar.
Add an event from the widget
You need the widget on your home screen first. If you do not have it yet, read how to add a calendar widget to your Android home screen.
Find the toolbar. The toolbar shows the date, or a big date, and the buttons.
Tap the add-event button. Your calendar app opens its new-event screen.
Enter the details. Add the title, the day, and the time, and pick the calendar.
Save the event. The calendar app saves it to that calendar.
Check the list. The widget refreshes itself when the calendar changes, so the new event should show in the agenda.
If the event does not show, tap the refresh button. If it still does not show, check that the calendar you used is turned on for this widget. You pick the calendars in the Super Agenda settings.
Your calendar, on your home screen. Super Agenda is a free, very customizable agenda widget for Android. No account, no ads.

Use the refresh button
The widget updates on its own when the calendar changes, and again at midnight. You rarely need the refresh button. Use it when you just synced an account and want to see the result at once, or when something looks out of date.
If the widget often looks stale, read calendar widget not updating on Android for the usual causes.
Use the settings button
The settings button opens the Super Agenda settings from the widget. There you can:
choose which calendars the widget shows (free)
set time settings: show past events, how many days ahead, the maximum number of events, hide declined events, and hide all-day events (free)
change colors, layouts, and style, which need Super Agenda Pro
The app shows a live preview that matches the widget on your home screen, with the same events, size, and look. You can check a change in the preview before you go back to the home screen.
Limits to know
Super Agenda has no month grid view and no tasks or to-dos. It shows an agenda list, with an optional timeline.
Styling needs Super Agenda Pro, a one-time in-app purchase. There is no subscription. The add-event, refresh, and settings buttons are part of the toolbar.
If you want to see a whole month and tap a day to add an event, a month widget fits better.
A two-column layout shows today and next, which can help when you plan the next day. See calendar widget layouts: one column or two to compare them.
Add, check, and move on. Put your agenda and an add-event button on the home screen.
