To add a calendar widget, touch and hold an empty space on your home screen, tap Widgets, pick a calendar widget, and drag it into place. The steps take under a minute on most Android phones.
The widget only shows events if the phone has a calendar app and a synced calendar. If you want a different look than the default, install a calendar widget app first, then follow the same steps.
Add the widget in five steps
Google's Android Help describes the steps below. Menu names change a little between phone brands and Android versions, and Google notes that some steps only work on Android 14 and newer. If a step looks different on your phone, look for the same words or icons.
Touch and hold an empty space. Find a spot on your home screen with no icons. Press and hold until the home screen menu opens.
Tap Widgets. The list of apps with widgets opens.
Find the calendar app. Scroll to the app you want, for example Calendar or a widget app you installed. Tap the app name to see its widgets.
Touch and hold the widget. Your home screens appear.
Drag it and let go. Move the widget to the place you want, then lift your finger.
Most calendar apps offer more than one widget. Pick the one that matches what you need: a list of events, a month view, or only the date.

Resize, move, or remove a widget
You can change the widget at any time.
Resize. Touch and hold the widget, then lift your finger. If the widget can change size, dots appear on its sides. Drag the dots, then tap outside the widget.
Move. Touch and hold the widget, then drag it to a new place.
Remove. Touch and hold the widget, then drag it up to Remove. This takes the widget off the home screen. It does not uninstall the app.
A bigger widget shows more events. A smaller one saves space. Start with a wide, short widget and adjust it after you see your own events.
What to check before you pick a widget app
All calendar widgets look different, and they do not all work the same way. Use this table as a short checklist.
Which calendars does it show? — Why it matters: Some widgets show one account. Others show every calendar on the phone..
List or month grid? — Why it matters: A list shows what comes next. A grid shows the whole month..
Can you style it? — Why it matters: Colors, text size, and transparency decide if it fits your wallpaper..
What does it cost? — Why it matters: Check for a free tier, a one-time purchase, or a subscription..
What does it do with your data? — Why it matters: Check for an account, ads, or analytics..

Where Super Agenda fits
Super Agenda is a home screen agenda widget for Android 8.0 and newer. It shows the events of the calendars on your phone, including Google Calendar and other accounts that sync to the Android calendar. It does not have its own calendar sync.
You can set up an agenda list with day headers, an optional timeline, and one or two columns. The app shows a live preview that matches the widget on your home screen.
It also has limits:
It has no month grid view.
It does not show tasks or to-dos.
Style options need the one-time in-app purchase, Super Agenda Pro. The time settings and the calendar choice are free.
If you want a month grid or a task list, another app will fit you better. For a clean home screen with one list of events, see A Minimalist Android Home Screen With One Agenda Widget.
FAQ
Why is there no Calendar widget in my widget list?
The app that provides the widget must be installed. Install a calendar app or a widget app, then check the Widgets list again. Restart the phone if the widget still does not appear.
Why does my widget show no events?
The widget reads the calendar on the phone. Open your calendar app and check that your events show there. If they do not, fix the account sync first.
Can I add more than one calendar widget?
Yes. You can place the same widget twice or use widgets from different apps. Super Agenda lets each widget have its own calendars and its own style.
Does a widget slow down my phone or drain the battery?
Any widget that updates in the background uses some battery. Super Agenda refreshes when the calendar changes and at midnight. Its background work runs only while a widget is on the home screen.
Can I put a widget on the lock screen?
This guide covers the home screen only. Super Agenda has no lock screen widget.
