A calendar app is private when it asks for no account, shows no ads, and says in its Google Play listing that it collects and shares no data. Four apps in this list meet that bar or come close. One needs an account, and I mark it.
TL;DR
Full calendar app, open source, no ads: Fossify Calendar.
Home screen agenda widget, no account, no ads: Super Agenda.
Full calendar app with a paid, ad-free version: aCalendar+.
Galaxy phones: Samsung Calendar (its Data safety section says no data collected).
Encrypted events, but you need an account: Proton Calendar.
Features and prices checked on 2026-10-23. Every privacy statement below comes from the app's own Google Play listing, including its Data safety section, or from the developer's site. The Data safety section is written by the developer. Google does not check it for you.
What to check in any calendar app
Check four things before you install:
The Data safety section. It sits on the Play listing. It says if the app collects data and if it shares data with third parties.
The "Contains ads" label. An ad-supported app often lists device IDs. For example, the DigiCal listing says it may share location, app activity and device IDs with third parties. The free aCalendar listing says it may share device or other IDs.
An account. An app with its own account holds your events on its servers.
Where your calendar syncs. A widget or a calendar app only shows what the phone holds. If your events sync from Google Calendar, Google still has them. If you want a calendar outside Google, move the sync first. Read how to show Outlook, iCloud and Exchange events in an Android widget to see how accounts reach the phone's calendar.
1. Fossify Calendar — Best for a private, open source calendar app
Android · Free, no ads
The Fossify Calendar listing says the app is ad-free and private, with "no ads, no tracking, no intrusive permissions". It is open source. The Data safety section says "No data collected" and "No data shared with third parties". The listing says it syncs with Google Calendar, Outlook, Nextcloud, Exchange and more, so you can keep the account you have. The latest update notes mention a monthly calendar widget and an event-list widget.
Strengths
Ad-free and open source.
Data safety section: no data collected, none shared.
Day, week, month and year views, plus filters.
Limitations
The widgets are simple. The listing says "beautiful calendar widgets and themes" but does not list style options.
It does not give you a privacy gain on its own if your events sync from a big provider.
Best for: People who want a full calendar app with no ads and the least data collection.
2. Super Agenda — Best for a private home screen agenda
Android 8.0 and newer · Free, one-time Pro upgrade
Super Agenda is my own app, so read this entry with that in mind. It is an agenda widget for the home screen. It reads the calendar only on the phone, to show the events. It does not send calendar data to a server. There is no account, no ads, and no analytics of its own. It has no sync of its own, so it shows the calendars that already sync to the Android calendar, such as Google Calendar.
The Google Play libraries that handle the Pro purchase use the internet. The time settings (past events, days ahead, maximum events, declined events, all-day events) and the calendar choice are free. One in-app purchase, Super Agenda Pro, unlocks all style options. There is no subscription.
Strengths
No account, no ads, no analytics of its own.
Choose which calendars each widget shows, so a private calendar can have its own widget.
Live preview that matches the home screen widget.
Limitations
It is a widget, not a calendar app. You need another app to create full events and manage calendars.
No month grid and no tasks.
Style options need Pro.
It does not make the sync source private.
Best for: People who already sync a calendar and want a clean agenda on the home screen with no extra account.
3. aCalendar+ — Best for a paid calendar app without ads
Android · Paid app (the free aCalendar has ads and one-time purchases)
aCalendar+ is the premium version of aCalendar, with all features unlocked and no ads. The developer writes that it "will NEVER send any of your private data anywhere unless configured by YOU". It uses the calendar storage and sync of Android. The Data safety section says no data is shared with third parties and that it may collect calendar and files data. The free aCalendar has ads, and its Data safety section says it may share device or other IDs.
Strengths
No ads in the paid version.
Works with the calendars already on the phone.
One-time upgrades, per the developer.
Limitations
You pay for the ad-free version.
Data safety lists calendar and files data as collected, so read what it says on the listing.
The free version has ads.
Best for: People who accept a small cost in return for a mature calendar app with no ads.
4. Samsung Calendar — Best for Galaxy phones
Android (Galaxy phones and tablets) · Free to install
The Samsung Calendar listing shows "No data collected" and "No data shared with third parties" in its Data safety section. The app asks for calendar and notification permission. It also lists optional permissions for contacts, location, and photos and videos.
Strengths
Data safety: no data collected, none shared.
Month, week, day, year and task views, plus widgets with adjustable transparency.
Limitations
Made for Galaxy phones.
The listing does not describe account rules. Read Samsung's privacy policy if you sync a Samsung account.
Best for: Galaxy owners who want a default app with a clean Data safety section.
Your calendar, on your home screen. Super Agenda is a free, very customizable agenda widget for Android. No account, no ads.

5. Proton Calendar — Best for encrypted events (account needed)
Android · Free account, paid plans inside the app
Proton Calendar breaks the "no account" rule, so it is the one exception in this list. The Proton site says: "Proton Calendar automatically secures all your events with end-to-end encryption." The listing says there are no ads, no trackers and no data sharing with third parties, and that event names, descriptions and participants are encrypted on its servers. The listing also mentions a home screen widget. Its Data safety section says no data is shared and that the app may collect data such as personal and financial info.
Strengths
Encryption is built in.
No ads and no third-party sharing, per the listing.
A home screen widget.
Limitations
You need a Proton account.
Managing up to 20 calendars is a paid feature, per the listing.
The Data safety section lists collected data types, which is normal for an app with an account.
Best for: People who want their events encrypted and accept an account.
Quick comparison

Proton Calendar — Account: Yes. Ads: No. Data safety on Play: None shared, may collect several types. Price model: Free account, paid plans.
How to choose
A full app with the smallest data footprint — Pick: Fossify Calendar.
A widget only, no account — Pick: Super Agenda.
An ad-free, mature app and you will pay — Pick: aCalendar+.
The Galaxy default — Pick: Samsung Calendar.
Encrypted events — Pick: Proton Calendar.
You can also pair a private calendar app with a widget. Fossify Calendar can hold the events, and Super Agenda can show them on the home screen. For more free options, read 6 best free calendar widgets for Android.
Bottom line
For a full calendar app, Fossify Calendar has the cleanest listing. For a home screen agenda with no account and no ads, Super Agenda fits. Proton Calendar is the pick if encryption matters more than having no account. Remember that a private app does not make your sync provider private. If your events live in Google Calendar, Google still holds them.
