On a Pixel, the Google Calendar widget and At a Glance cover the basics for free. A third-party widget makes sense when you want an agenda list you can style, more widget types, or an app with a different privacy model.

TL;DR

  • Tasks and events in one widget, from Google: Google Calendar.

  • Only your next event at the top of the home screen: At a Glance.

  • Many widget types and a full planner: Business Calendar 2.

  • Ready-made widget themes: DigiCal.

  • An encrypted calendar: Proton Calendar.

  • A styled agenda list (style options need Pro): Super Agenda.

Features and prices checked on 2026-10-23. For the steps to place a widget, read how to add a calendar widget on a Google Pixel. Menu names change between Android versions.

1. Google Calendar — Best for Google accounts and tasks

Android · Free to install

Google's help page lists two widgets for Android. The schedule widget shows your tasks and upcoming events. The month view widget shows your schedule one month at a time. The Play listing says the app also adds events from Gmail, supports shared calendars, and shows other calendars on the device, including Exchange.

Strengths

  • Made by Google, so it fits the Pixel.

  • Tasks and events in one schedule widget.

  • Both a list widget and a month widget.

Limitations

  • The help page lists resizing, moving and removing. It does not list color, transparency or text-size options.

  • Only two widget types.

Best for: Pixel owners with a Google account who want no setup.

2. At a Glance — Best for your next event only

Built into Pixel phones

At a Glance is the line at the top of the Pixel home screen. Google's Pixel Help page says it can show upcoming calendar events, such as your next meeting. Some of these events come from app notifications and from the calendar on the device. To change what it shows, touch and hold the date, open At a Glance settings, and pick the topics under Customize. It also shows content on the lock screen by default.

Strengths

  • Nothing to install.

  • Shows the next meeting where you already look.

  • You pick the topics.

Limitations

  • Google describes it as a way to see upcoming events. It is not a list of your whole day.

  • The Help page lists topic choices. It does not list style options.

Best for: People who only need to know what is next.

3. Business Calendar 2 — Best for many widget types

Android · Free with ads, paid Pro upgrade inside the app

The Play listing for Business Calendar 2 says it has 7 widgets, including month, week, day and agenda widgets. It also lists widget themes, tasks, sync with Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Exchange and CalDAV, and a local-only mode. The free version has ads. The latest "What's new" note on Play mentions "Pro subscription purchases", so check the billing type on the purchase screen before you pay.

Strengths

  • Many widget types.

  • A full planner with tasks.

  • Several sync services.

Limitations

  • Ads in the free version.

  • A large app if you only want a widget.

  • The Pro billing type is not clear from the listing.

Best for: Pixel owners who want to replace the whole calendar app.

4. DigiCal — Best for ready-made widget themes

Android · Free with ads, paid upgrades inside the app

DigiCal has 6 widgets: list, grid, day, day list, text month and month. Its listing says 9 preset themes cover them. DigiCal+ adds two widgets, 7 extra widget themes, more customization and no ads. It syncs with Google Calendar, Outlook and Exchange.

Strengths

  • Preset themes for a fast start.

  • Seven views in the app.

  • Local calendar option.

Limitations

  • Ads in the free version.

  • Some widgets and themes need DigiCal+.

  • Its Data safety section lists data shared with third parties (location, app activity, device IDs).

Best for: People who want to choose a theme and finish.

5. Proton Calendar — Best for an encrypted calendar

Android · Free account, paid plans inside the app

Proton Calendar is a calendar with its own account. Its listing mentions a home screen widget that shows your agenda, no ads, no trackers and no data sharing with third parties. The listing and the Proton site say events are end-to-end encrypted. The listing says that managing up to 20 calendars is a paid feature.

Strengths

  • Privacy is the main design goal.

  • A widget for the home screen.

  • No ads.

Limitations

  • You need a Proton account.

  • The listing does not describe widget types or styling.

  • More calendars need a paid plan.

Best for: People who care most about encrypted events.

6. Super Agenda — Best for a styled agenda list

Android 8.0 and newer · Free, one-time Pro upgrade

Super Agenda is my own app. It is an agenda widget that shows the events of the calendars on the phone, with optional day headers and an optional timeline. The toolbar shows the date, or a big date with the month. Use one column, or two columns for today and next. Toolbar buttons add an event, refresh, and open the settings. A tap on an event opens it in the calendar app.

You can change colors, text sizes, shapes, transparency and the corner radius of each part. Event color markers come as a bar, a circle or a small dot. Built-in designs help you start, and you can save, share and import presets. Day and night themes follow the system dark mode. Each widget can have its own calendars and style, and the live preview in the app matches the widget on the home screen.

The time settings and the calendar choice are free. One in-app purchase, Super Agenda Pro, unlocks all style options. There is no subscription, no account and no ads.

Strengths

  • Strong styling for an agenda list.

  • Separate calendars and styles for each widget.

  • Reads the calendar only on the phone, with no calendar data sent to a server.

Limitations

  • No month grid and no tasks.

  • Style options need Pro.

  • No wallpaper-based color extraction (Material You colors), so the widget does not take its colors from your Pixel wallpaper. You set the colors yourself.

  • No sync of its own. It shows calendars that sync to the Android calendar, such as Google Calendar.

Best for: Pixel owners who want an agenda list in their own colors, and who do not need a month grid.

Your calendar, on your home screen. Super Agenda is a free, very customizable agenda widget for Android. No account, no ads.
