To add a calendar widget on a Google Pixel, touch and hold an empty space on the Home screen, tap Widgets, find your calendar app, and drag its widget to the Home screen. The same steps work for the Google Calendar widget and for widgets from other apps.

Google says that some of the steps in its Pixel help page only work on Android 14 and up, and it does not say which ones. If a step looks different on your phone, check your Android version in Settings. Steps checked on 2026-10-23.

Add a calendar widget

  1. Open the widget list. Touch and hold an empty space on a Home screen. Tap Widgets.

  2. Find the calendar app. Scroll to the app that has the widget you want. Tap the app name to see all its widgets.

  3. Pick a widget. Touch and hold the widget you like. Your Home screens appear.

  4. Place it. Drag the widget to a spot on the Home screen. Lift your finger.

  5. Resize it. Touch and hold the widget, then lift your finger. If you can resize it, dots show on its sides. Drag the dots, then tap outside the widget.

There is a shortcut. Google says you can also touch and hold an app icon and tap Widgets to see that app's widgets. Not every app offers this.

To remove a widget, touch and hold it and drag it up to Remove. Google notes that this takes the widget off the Home screen but does not uninstall the app.

Add a third-party widget on a Pixel

The steps are the same. Install the widget app from Google Play first, then use the steps above. The app name shows in the Widgets list.

After you place the widget, open the app to choose calendars and style. With Super Agenda, you pick the calendars, then the layout, and the live preview matches the widget on your Home screen.

What the Pixel steps do not cover

Google's help page explains how to place, resize, and remove widgets. It does not list what each calendar widget shows. The views, sizes, and options come from the app that makes the widget, and they can change when the app updates. Open the widget list on your phone to see what you have today.

Which widget should you pick?

  • The Google Calendar widget from your calendar app — Better pick: The widget that comes with that app.

  • A list of upcoming events with your own colors and shapes — Better pick: Super Agenda.

  • Several widgets, each with its own calendars and style — Better pick: Super Agenda.

  • A month grid — Better pick: A widget that has a month view.

  • Tasks next to events — Better pick: A widget or app that supports tasks.

Super Agenda has some limits. It has no month grid and no tasks. It does not take colors from your wallpaper. The calendar choice and the time settings are free, but colors, layouts, per-widget styles, presets, and day/night themes need Super Agenda Pro, a one-time in-app purchase. There is no subscription.

Super Agenda shows the events of the calendars on your phone. That means Google Calendar, and any other account that syncs to the Android calendar. It has no calendar sync of its own. It works on Android 8.0 and newer, so it also works on older Pixel phones.

Try an agenda list on your Pixel. Pick your calendars, set the look, and check the live preview before you place the widget.

FAQ

Why can't I find a calendar widget in the list?

The app must be installed first. Scroll the list to the app name, or touch and hold the app icon and look for Widgets. If the app has no widget, it will not show one.

Can I resize the widget?

Only if the widget allows it. Touch and hold the widget, lift your finger, and look for dots on the sides. If you see no dots, the widget has a fixed size.

Does the widget need an account?

The widget shows events of the calendars on the phone. Add the account to the phone first, in Settings under Passwords & accounts (the name changes by device and version). Google Calendar events show once the Google Account is on the phone.

Is the widget the same on every Pixel?

The placing steps are the same. Google says some steps only work on Android 14 and up. The widget itself depends on the app version.

Will removing the widget delete my events?

No. The events stay in your calendar. Removing the widget only takes it off the Home screen.
