The calendar widget from Samsung is good enough for many Galaxy owners. A third-party widget helps when you want a plain agenda list, more widget types, or more control over the look.
TL;DR
Month grid next to today's events, no extra app: Samsung Calendar.
Google account, with tasks next to events: Google Calendar.
Many widget types in one app: Business Calendar 2.
A styled agenda list that follows system dark mode: Super Agenda (style options need Pro).
Outlook or Exchange accounts: Outlook.
Features and prices checked on 2026-10-23. Menu names can change between One UI versions. If you need the steps to place a widget, read how to add a calendar widget on a Samsung Galaxy.
1. Samsung Calendar — Best for staying with the built-in app
Android (Galaxy phones and tablets) · Free to install
Samsung Calendar is the calendar app that Samsung makes. Its Google Play listing says you can add several calendars, including Google Calendar, and that the app has several widget types with adjustable transparency.
Samsung names two widgets on its widget guide: "Month and Today", which shows the month and the events of the day, and "Countdown", which shows the days left until an event. With One UI 7, Samsung added the choice of which calendars each widget shows. You can place two calendar widgets, each with a different calendar.
Strengths
Matches the rest of One UI.
The month grid and the day's events sit in one widget.
Choose the calendars for each widget (One UI 7).
The Play listing's Data safety section says "No data collected".
Limitations
Made for Galaxy phones. The widget and the app follow Samsung's design.
The pages I read name transparency as the style option. They do not list full color or text-size control.
Features depend on your One UI version.
Best for: Galaxy owners who want a month view and a default that needs no setup.
2. Google Calendar — Best for Google accounts and tasks
Android · Free to install
Google Calendar works well on a Galaxy phone if your events live in a Google account. Google's help page lists two widgets: a schedule widget that shows tasks and upcoming events, and a month view widget that shows your schedule one month at a time. The Play listing adds that the app also adds events from Gmail, keeps shared calendars, and supports light and dark mode.
Strengths
Tasks and events in the same schedule widget.
Events from Gmail appear in the calendar.
Works the same on any Android phone, so it follows you if you change brand.
Limitations
The help page lists resizing, moving and removing. It does not list color, transparency or text-size options.
Two widget types only.
You have two calendar apps on a Galaxy phone, which can confuse which one you open.
Best for: People who live in Google Calendar and want tasks in the widget.
3. Business Calendar 2 — Best for many widget types
Android · Free with ads, paid Pro upgrade inside the app
Business Calendar 2 gives you 7 widgets, including month, week, day and agenda widgets, with a choice of widget themes. You can adapt each widget to your needs. The Play listing also lists tasks, sync with Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Exchange and CalDAV, a local-only mode, and a Wear OS app.
The free version has ads. The Pro features include weather in the planner and 22 app themes. The latest "What's new" note on Play mentions "Pro subscription purchases", so read the purchase screen to see the billing type before you pay.
Strengths
The most widget types in this list.
A full calendar app with tasks, not only a widget.
Works with several sync services.
Limitations
Ads in the free version.
A large app. If you only want a widget, you carry a lot of extra features.
Billing type for Pro is not clear from the listing.
Best for: Galaxy owners who want a replacement for the whole calendar app, with a choice of widgets.
4. DigiCal — Best for ready-made widget themes
Android · Free with ads, paid upgrades inside the app
DigiCal offers 6 widgets: list, grid, day, day list, text month and month. The listing says 9 preset themes cover these widgets. DigiCal+ adds two more widgets (month and month calendar), 7 extra widget themes, new customization options and no ads. It syncs with Google Calendar, Outlook and Exchange, and it can use a local calendar.
Strengths
Preset themes give a quick start.
Seven views in the app, including year and text month.
Weather forecast in the planner.
Limitations
Ads in the free version.
Some widget types and themes need DigiCal+.
The Data safety section lists data shared with third parties, including location, app activity and device IDs. Read it before you install if privacy matters to you.
Best for: People who want to pick a theme and move on.
5. aCalendar — Best for a one-time upgrade
Android · Free with ads and one-time purchases inside the app
aCalendar has 8 widgets, including full-screen widgets. Its Google Play listing says the app is "free with ads and some one-time IAPs", and the developer writes that all upgrades are one-time purchases. The app uses the calendar storage and sync of Android, so it shows any calendar that already syncs to your phone. Extra features include public holidays, more colors, tasks and no ads. A paid version, aCalendar+, has everything unlocked.
Strengths
One-time upgrades, no subscription.
Per-event colors and many color choices.
Uses the calendars already on the phone.
Limitations
Ads in the free version.
The listing does not describe each widget in detail.
Tasks, holidays and more colors sit behind the upgrade.
Best for: People who want a full calendar app with widgets and prefer to pay once.
6. Super Agenda — Best for a styled agenda list
Android 8.0 and newer · Free, one-time Pro upgrade
Super Agenda is my own app, so read this entry with that in mind. It is an agenda widget. It shows the events of the calendars on the phone as a list, with optional day headers and an optional timeline. The toolbar can show a date, or a big date with the month. You can use one column, or two columns for today and next.
You can change colors, text sizes, shapes, transparency and the corner radius of each part, and choose event color markers (bar, circle or small dot). Built-in designs give you a start, and you can save, share and import presets. Day and night themes follow the system dark mode. Each widget can have its own calendars and style. The app shows a live preview that matches the widget on the home screen.
The time settings are free: past events, days ahead, the maximum number of events, hiding declined events and hiding all-day events. So is the choice of calendars. One in-app purchase, Super Agenda Pro, unlocks all style options. There is no subscription, no account and no ads.
Strengths
A clean agenda list with strong styling.
Per-widget calendars and styles.
The app reads the calendar only on the phone. It does not send calendar data to a server.
Limitations
No month grid.
No tasks or to-dos.
Style options need Pro.
No wallpaper-based color extraction (Material You colors).
It has no sync of its own. It shows calendars that sync to the Android calendar, such as Google Calendar.
Best for: Galaxy owners who want an agenda list they can style, and who do not need a month grid.
Your calendar, on your home screen. Super Agenda is a free, very customizable agenda widget for Android. No account, no ads.

7. Outlook — Best for Outlook and Exchange accounts
Android · Free for personal use, with ads, paid options inside the app
If your work calendar is in Outlook or Exchange, the Outlook app has its own calendar widget. Microsoft's support page says you add it from the widget list and then pick the calendars from your accounts. The listing says Outlook is free for personal use. It contains ads, and some Microsoft 365 features need a qualifying subscription.
Strengths
Pick the calendars of your accounts for the widget.
Email and calendar in one app.
Limitations
It is an email app first. It is a heavy install if you only want a widget.
Ads in the app.
I found no style options for the widget on the pages I checked.
Best for: People whose day runs on Outlook or Exchange.

Bottom line
Start with Samsung Calendar. It is free and already fits One UI. Move to a third-party widget when it falls short: pick Business Calendar 2 or DigiCal for more widget types, Google Calendar for tasks, and Super Agenda when you want an agenda list that you can style. Super Agenda is not the right pick if you need a month grid or tasks.
