To add a calendar widget on a Samsung Galaxy, touch and hold an empty part of the Home screen, tap Widgets, pick a calendar widget, and tap Add. You can use the Samsung Calendar widget or a widget from another app.

Samsung says menu names and screens can differ by device model and One UI version. The steps below follow Samsung's current support page. Checked on 2026-10-23.

Add the Samsung Calendar widget

Samsung Calendar is Samsung's own calendar app, and it has its own widget. Here is how to place it.

  1. Open the widget list. Touch and hold an empty part of the Home screen. Tap Widgets.

  2. Find Calendar. Recommended widgets show at the top. Swipe up to see the full list, then find Calendar.

  3. Choose a view. Select the widget. Some widgets offer several options. The options depend on the widget.

  4. Add it. Tap Add. The widget now shows on your Home screen.

  5. Adjust it. Touch and hold the widget, then tap Settings. Samsung lists color and transparency here. Other settings depend on the widget.

To resize a widget that allows it, look for a dot in the center of its outline. Touch and hold the dot, then drag. To move a widget, touch and hold it and drag it to another spot. To remove it, touch and hold it and tap Remove.

You can also add an event from the Samsung Calendar widget. Select a date on the widget, tap +, enter the details, and tap Save.

Add a third-party calendar widget

The steps are the same for any widget app. First install the app from Google Play or the Galaxy Store. Then do this.

  1. Install the app. Open the store and install the widget app.

  2. Open the widget list. Touch and hold an empty part of the Home screen. Tap Widgets.

  3. Find the app. Scroll to the app name. Tap it to see its widgets.

  4. Place the widget. Touch and hold the widget, drag it to the Home screen, and lift your finger.

  5. Set it up. Open the app to choose calendars and style.

If the widget does not show in the list, restart the phone. A Samsung Community answer also notes that an app marked as "do not show on the Home screen" can hide its widgets. Check that setting if the widget is missing.

Use Super Agenda on a Galaxy

Super Agenda is an agenda widget for Android 8.0 and newer. It shows the events of the calendars on your phone: Google Calendar and any other account that syncs to the Android calendar. It has no calendar sync of its own, so sync your accounts to the phone first.

You get an agenda list with optional day headers and an optional timeline. You can pick one column or two (today and next). The app shows a live preview that matches the widget on your Home screen. A tap on an event opens it in your calendar app.

Some limits you should know:

  • It has no month grid view. If you want a full month on the Home screen, Samsung's widget fits better.

  • It has no tasks or to-dos.

  • Colors, layouts, and presets need the one-time in-app purchase, Super Agenda Pro. The calendar choice and the time settings are free.

When to pick which widget

  • A month view on the Home screen — Better pick: Samsung Calendar widget.

  • Nothing to install — Better pick: Samsung Calendar widget.

  • A list of upcoming events with your own colors and shapes — Better pick: Super Agenda.

  • A different style for each widget — Better pick: Super Agenda.

  • Day and night looks that follow system dark mode — Better pick: Super Agenda.

FAQ

Why is the calendar widget missing on my Samsung phone?

Restart the phone and update the app first. A Samsung Community answer says an app can lose its widgets if it is set to not show on the Home screen. Check that setting for the app.

Can I resize the widget?

Only if the widget allows it. Samsung says resizable widgets show a dot in the center of the outline. Touch and hold the dot, then drag.

Do the steps change by One UI version?

The main steps are the same: touch and hold, Widgets, pick, Add. Samsung says some options differ by version and device. For example, widget stack auto rotate is not available on One UI 6.1.1 or higher.

Do third-party widgets show Samsung Calendar events?

That depends on the widget. A widget that reads the calendars on the phone, like Super Agenda, shows the events of every calendar you turn on. Check that the calendar is on in the widget settings. If Samsung Calendar events do not show, check that their account syncs to the phone.

Do I need a Samsung account?

You do not need one to add a widget. Samsung says you must be signed in to a Samsung account to create a shared calendar in Samsung Calendar.
