Only one calendar widget in this list is confirmed to take its colors from your wallpaper: Google Calendar's. The others let you set colors by hand, so you can get a similar clean look.
Based on published app information. Features and prices checked on 2026-10-23.
TL;DR
Real wallpaper colors: Google Calendar.
Clean look by hand, most control: Super Agenda (no wallpaper colors).
Color control with a theme engine: Everyday: Calendar Widget.
Private app with Material Design: Fossify Calendar.
Free minimal list: Minimalist Agenda Widget.
Preset themes and hex colors: Event Flow.
What "Material You-style" means
Material You is Google's design system for Android 12 and newer. Its main feature is dynamic color: the system picks colors from your wallpaper and apps use them (Android Developers). A widget can follow it, or it can only copy the look: rounded shapes, soft colors, and a calm layout.
I could confirm wallpaper-based colors for one widget only. For every other app, I say what the listing states, and I say when I could not confirm something.
1. Google Calendar — Best for real wallpaper colors
Android · Free · Google Play listing
Google Calendar is the one widget here that uses Dynamic Color. Google redesigned the widgets in 2021, along with Dynamic Color in the app (9to5Google). A 2023 redesign replaced the light or dark background with Dynamic Color theming and added an add-event button to the schedule and month widgets (9to5Google). The two widgets are "Calendar schedule" and "Calendar month view" (Google help page).
Strengths
Dynamic Color theming.
A schedule list and a month grid.
Free.
Limitations
Google's help page describes resizing only. I found no color or transparency options there.
Only two widget types.
Best for: people who want the widget to follow the wallpaper with no setup.
2. Everyday: Calendar Widget — Best for color control with a theme engine
Android · Free with ads and in-app purchases · Google Play listing
Everyday has Agenda, Today, and Month widgets. The listing describes a dynamic theme engine that adapts to the background so text stays readable. An older XDA Developers review says you can set colors from Material Design palettes or enter ARGB, HEX, or HSV values. The review does not mention wallpaper colors, and neither does the listing. I could not confirm that the app follows your wallpaper.
Strengths
Material Design palettes and exact color values, per that review.
Several widgets, each with its own theme and calendars.
Updated on Google Play on Sep 12, 2026.
Limitations
Ads in the free version.
Some features, such as task sync, need Premium.
Wallpaper colors not confirmed.
Best for: people who want to tune colors by hand across three widget types.
3. Super Agenda — Best for a hand-built clean look
Android 8.0+ · Free to download, one-time in-app purchase (Super Agenda Pro) · Google Play listing
Super Agenda does not extract colors from your wallpaper. You set them. The goal is a look that fits your home screen, with control over each part: colors, text sizes, shapes, transparency, and the corner radius. Event markers can be a bar, a circle, or a small dot. Built-in designs give you ready presets, and you can save your own and share them as a file.
The layout is an agenda list with optional day headers and an optional timeline, in one or two columns. The toolbar shows the date or a big date. Day and night themes follow the system dark mode. The live preview in the app matches the widget on your home screen.
Super Agenda Pro, a one-time purchase, unlocks all style options. There is no subscription, account, or ads. The time settings and calendar choice are free.
Strengths
Corner radius and transparency for each part.
Day and night themes that follow system dark mode.
Presets you can save, share, and import.
Limitations
No wallpaper-based dynamic colors.
No month grid, no tasks, no weather.
The style options need Pro.
Best for: people who want to build the Material-style look themselves and keep it consistent across several widgets. See our design ideas.

4. Fossify Calendar — Best private app with Material Design
Android · Free, open source (GPL-3.0), no ads · Google Play listing
Fossify Calendar is a full calendar app. Its listing mentions "Material Design elegance" with dynamic themes for the app, and "beautiful calendar widgets and themes" for the home screen. The listing does not say whether the widgets follow your wallpaper, and I could not confirm it. It syncs with Google Calendar, Outlook, Nextcloud, and Exchange.
Strengths
Free, open source, and ad-free.
A full calendar app with several views.
Updated on Google Play on Oct 10, 2026.
Limitations
The listing gives few widget details.
Wallpaper colors for widgets not confirmed.
Best for: people who want a private calendar app with a modern look.
5. Minimalist Agenda Widget — Best free minimal list
Android · Free, no ads, no accounts · Google Play listing
This widget shows upcoming events in a simple list. You can pick text and background colors, change font size, spacing, and alignment, and set the background opacity to blend with your wallpaper. Color dots or emojis tell calendars apart. The listing does not mention wallpaper-based colors.
Strengths
Free, no accounts, no ads.
Opacity control.
Limitations
Colors are set by hand.
Fewer options than the larger apps, as far as the listing shows.
Best for: people who want a quiet, clean list for free.
6. Event Flow Calendar Widget — Best for preset themes and hex colors
Android · Free, with some options locked behind an in-app upgrade · Google Play listing
Event Flow has an agenda widget and a resizable month widget. You can change background and font colors, the font, and the header. Preset themes give you a starting point, and you can enter an exact hex color with its alpha value. Some options are locked in the free version. The last Google Play update was Sep 29, 2025.
Strengths
Preset themes.
Exact hex colors with alpha.
Agenda and month widgets.
Limitations
Some options locked.
Wallpaper colors not mentioned in the listing.
Older update date than the others.
Best for: people who want presets and a month grid.
